CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This part of research is consider as one of the most crucial part which supports researcher to arrive at better conclusions. The main motive of every research is to inform action. Thus,  whole study should seek to contextualize its findings within the larger body of research. Research must always be of high quality in order to produce knowledge that is applicable outside of the research setting. Furthermore, the results of the study may have implications for policy and future project implementation. For this purpose, investigator is required to  Research methodology is a specific procedure that is used in order to determine, choose, processes and evaluate brief information about a topic. In research paper, the section allows readers to critically analyse reliability and validity of the study. Basically, research methodology answers two main questions, i.e. how data is gathers and it is analysed.  In simple terms, it is a systematic plan for conducting research by considering all necessary activities. Research methodology also supports to determine the better results of a given problem   which is concern with area of study. In this, researcher uses various criteria so as to reach all problems and attain objectives in the best possible manner. The entire process support researcher to implement all research activities and tasks effectively; it also requires several tools and techniques. Therefore, research methodology is classified into different parts which are stated as under: -

3.1 Types of investigation

There are two types of investigations which can be used in research methodology, such as – qualitative and quantitative.  Qualitative research refers to reveal the range of target audiences and identify the perceptions which drives it with reference to specific topics or issues. It uses detailed studies of small number of people which supports in constructing hypothesis. In addition, results of qualitative research are based upon description rather than prediction. Methods which are used in qualitative research originate from behavioural science, such as – sociology, psychology and anthropology. Various methods of qualitative research are – interviews, group discussions, in-context observations etc. Apart from this, quantitative research is a structured way to gather and assess data that is obtained from various sources. It involves adoption of mathematical and statistical tools in order to derive results in an effective manner. Quantitative research is based upon quantifying the problem and recognise how prevalent it is able to accomplish desired results. The research is more than explorative rather than descriptive.

Thus, for effective completion of this entire project there is used qualitative research as it synergise more respondents in terms of building their ideas and comments. The research method focus on quality of processes which are not examined or measured in terms of quality, intensify and amount. In contrast, qualitative research studies focuses on analyse and measurement of formal relationships between variables.

3.2 Research design

Research design entails with entire strategy which has been selected in order to integrate various components of the study in more logical as well as coherent way. At this time, it must be ensure that there is effectively addressing research problems and determine their solutions in the best possible manner. A systematic research design constitute with blueprint of collection and analysing the data that is able to find out research problems. Along with this, main function of research design is to assure that obtained evidence able to provide logical as well as unambitiously solutions. There are three main types of research design, such as – descriptive research design, explanatory research design and exploratory research design.

In which descriptive research design refers to provide good and detailed description of research topic which is going to be studied. It involves government sponsored studies that is based on collection of wide range of social indicators, it also provides economic information. Apart from this, explanatory research design emphasis on why questions; in simple terms it determines the issues which are not being studied. The research design helps to formulate best research design, selection of subject areas and methods of data collection.

On the other hand, exploratory research design tend to highly explore research questions and does not provide final solution of the problem. Usually, this kind of study are undertaken to resolve a problem which is not being clearly defined yet. It merely explores research topic by varying levels of depth. Therefore, for this present study there is used descriptive research design in order to depict respondents in a proper manner. Generally, the research design is all about defining individuals who will take participate in entire study. There are different methods of descriptive research design, such as – observation method, case study method and survey. Here is used survey method to recognise viewpoints of respondents.

3.3 Research philosophy

It is the most important method in which different tools and techniques are analysed by which data can be easily connected, analysed and used for data collection. In this factor research project factor is discussed and they are analysed with the view points of different authors and experts who are working in the similar field for years. Research philosophy is a belief about the way in which data for a specific concern is gathered, assess and implemented. There are mainly two type of research philosophies used in the research one is positivism and another is Interpretivism. In the present research the investigator has used Interpretivism philosophies as they are beneficial in order to carry out their activities in right direction. Positivism research philosophy involves manipulation of reality by variations by considering a single independent variable; it supports to determine relationship between constitutional elements of social world. Apart from this, interpretivisim research approach entails to interpret the data and determine solutions in the best possible manner. It interprets social roles which has been presented in own set of meaning. Thus, for the completion of this research project there will be used interpretivism research philosophy because it provides more qualitative data and information as they are beneficial in order to develop valid outcomes for the study.

3.4 Research approach

Research approaches has define as one of the most important part of entire research process that help to run whole project in right direction in given time frame in order to draw a valid conclusion effectively. So that, investigation approaches has mainly two type inductive and deductive according to requirement researcher has choose best one out of all available alternative in an effective manner. Both has their own strength and weakness, investigator has choose best appropriate in order to carry out work effectively.

  • Inductive research approach: It is testing theory, researcher has gather information related to investigation. For this, they are invest time, money and effort into research. They are select most appropriate patterns of content and work on develop of theory which has support entire work in an effective ways.
  • Deductive research approach: It has develop hypothesis form already exist concepts so that it help to make new theory with positive outcomes. Researcher has analyse their implementation ideas and find out some issue accordingly take decision to solve all problem. That help to move one general area to specific other. In this approaches, people has associated with scientific research for this they are read all theories and test hypothesis in order to merge them in an effective ways.

Therefore, in given research project researcher has select inductive research approaches because it is based on qualitative investigation method that shows clients needs and wants as well as their opinion bout company product and services. It has been analysed on the basis of figures and facts which has collected by investigators for entire project so that inductive approaches has help to used to collect relevant information to draw valid outcomes effectively.

3.5 Data sampling

In this section of investigation, information has collected form several sources in order to gain positive outcome effectively. For this, researcher has choose sample respondents and ask some relevant question related to project topic which help to gather relevant data and interpreted them in order to achieve positive outcome. These sample of the population or clients has choose by researcher by conducting random sampling that shows behaviours, thinking, attitude, perception, learning style etc. Thus help to gain positive outcome to carry out entire project in right direction.  There are two kind of data sampling method probabilistic and non probabilistic method, both has their own strength as well as weakness. Investigator has select one form all available alternative according to their needs or requirement.
